The existing building is located in the quayside area of the old town of Donostia. It is the former warehouse of a well known sunshade manufacturer and has remained empty for the past few years. The client wants to transform it into the home of the family.
The building is a pastiche, a copy of the former informally built warehouse in the 1920’s, rebuilt in concrete in 1992. Nevertheless, it is included in the preservation catalogue and the shape and facade of the building can’t be modified.

Jonander Agirre Mikelez is an architect based in Donostia-San Sebastián committed to multidisciplinary and locally based architectural practice.
His work is based on the idea that architecture is affected by everything and does affect everything and therefore working as an architect implies a broad interest and involvement in the world.
His practice includes furniture, writing, buildings, urban projects, books and films and most of his projects are developed in collaboration with different architects, artists, institutions and grassroots movements.
